Margin protection and pricing approval
How RABT checks quotation lines against your minimum margin, and who approves exceptions.
Margin protection helps you avoid quoting below the margin your company wants — without stopping anyone from doing their job.
Your minimum margin
Set it in Settings → Company → Commercial rules → Minimum margin (%). New workspaces start at 15%.
For each line, RABT works out the margin at the selling price after discounts: (price − cost) ÷ price. This needs the product's cost to be recorded. If it is not, RABT says "Cost not recorded" and does not check that line — a missing cost is never treated as zero.
When a line is below the minimum
The line is marked Below minimum and the quotation shows how many lines are below it. Nothing is blocked: the quotation can still be saved and sent. RABT shows that the pricing is below your minimum until someone approves it.
Pricing approval
A user with the approve-pricing permission — by default sales managers, admins and owners — can choose Approve pricing on the quotation page. RABT records who approved it and when. The approval can be revoked.
Editing a quotation clears its approval, because the prices may have changed. It needs approving again.
Who sees cost and margin figures
People without cost access see whether a line meets the minimum, but not the cost or the exact margin. See Roles and permissions.
